Essentially, Jitsu is a fast paced, fun martial art primarily designed to teach a person to defend themselves. One of its most appealing qualities is the fact that it has kept up with the times, whilst we do learn much of the original art of Jiu Jitsu, we practise a more modern adaptation. To begin with you learn to defend from real life objects such as bottles, knives, baseball bats, etc.
"a martial art based on the traditional styles of Jiu Jitsu that originated and developed in medieval Japan. The core of the art comprises a system of throws, joint locks and strikes. Based on the principal of using an aggressor's energy to their own disadvantage"
On top of all this Jitsu is a very social sport, and the universities' clubs honour that. We have regular socials, individual and joint. Both clubs can be found in a local pub after their sessions and everyone who trains is friendly to new and old members alike.
Anyway, we can harp on about it as much as we like, it's really up to you whether or not Jiujitsu is for you so come along and try a session for free. Club details for each university can be found at the bottom of the page. We look forward to seeing you on the mat soon!
